Summary, etc. En 1969, Paul Sweezy, invitado por la American Economic Association a organizar un panel sobre el tema Economía del imperialismo para tratarlo desde el punto de vista marxista, lo compuso orientado por el siguiente criterio: un ensayo realizado por un analista de una metrópoli imperialista donde se examinara el total del sistema imperialista capitalista desde ese ángulo (Richard Wolff); otro, desarrollado por un analista del Tercer mundo, demostrando el carácter de las relaciones estrictamente económicas entre los polos de arriba y de abajo del sistema (Theotonio Dos Santos); y un tercero, escrito por un estudioso del sistema en su conjunto, destinado a sopesar los omnipresentes roles económicos y políticos de la fuerza organizada y de la violencia (militarismo) en el modus operandi del sistema (Harry Magdoff). Se cierra con un debate final
