En la época de Shakespeare la situación social y religiosa llevó a la sociedad a una actitud muy próxima al existencialismo de los años cuarenta. El teatro shakesperiano participa de este modo de la mayor parte de las influencias que mueven al teatro actual: el absurdo, la angustia, la crueldad o la didáctica: Kott reinterpreta las grandes tragedias y las compara con las modernas. |
