| Summary, etc. | El autor presenta un estudio global e histórico de la destructividad humana; considera la agresión maligna y destructiva cuando el hombre mata sin objetivo biológico ni social, como particularmente humana y no instintiva porque forma parte del carácter humano. Partiendo de esta posición teórica estudia las condiciones que provocan la agresión como también las causas de la destructividad; para ello se apoya en los descubrimientos de la neurofisiología, la prehistoria, la antropología y la psicología del animal. Con esta posición supera la controversia entre los instintivistas (Lorenz) que afirman que la destructividad del hombre es una herencia de sus antepasados animales y los conductistas (Skinner) que afirman que toda agresión se debe al comportamiento social y no innato. Fromm sostiene que el hombre comparte con los animales una agresión defensiva para garantizar su supervivencia. Da ejemplos de destructividad, como los de Stalin, Himmler y Hitler. |
