| Summary, etc. | Victor Hugo decidió escribir para su drama Cromwell un prólogo que pasa por el manifiesto de la nueva escuela "romántica francesa". Muchas de las ideas del célebre prólogo habían sido formuladas por otros; el valor de Hugo consiste en haberlas agrupado, sistematizado y revestido de fórmulas altaneras y metáforas ambiciosas. El drama Cromwell, se estrena en 1827 y alude a la histórica figura del célebre inglés, alma de la reforma y de la revolución en su país. |
