Summary, etc. Bachir Lazhar, un inmigrante argelino, es convocado para sustituir a una profesora de escuela primaria que ha fallecido trágicamente. Mientras los alumnos se acostumbran a los nuevos métodos de Lazhar, se expande el rumor de que el profesor podría ser deportado al estar en Canadá de forma ilegal. Bajo esta premisa, la película aborda la soledad y la muerte huyendo de los tópicos establecidos por la sociedad occidental.
