Expansion of summary note El término “federal”, apenas desatada la revolución de mayo de 1810, comenzó a circular en el amplísimo territorio del virreinato del Río de la Plata y fue adquiriendo distintas modulaciones en las décadas siguientes. La invocación al federalismo dio lugar a diversas concepciones y proyectos sobre cómo organizar el nuevo orden político nacido de la ruptura de los lazos coloniales, a la creación de partidos y facciones, a la constitución de nuevas identidades, a la definición del campo del enemigo, a un grito de guerra, y hasta a una forma de vestir federal.
