| Summary, etc. | La física en el presente libro se ha desarrollado amplia y profundamente en multitud de direcciones y no sólo ha puesto su impronta en la historia humana del pasado reciente, sino que en gran medida decidirá el destino futuro de la humanidad. Por otra parte, y a un nivel más personal e íntimo, puede decirse que nuestras vidas cotidianas han cambiado gracias a las aplicaciones de la física. Relatar, casi en estilo telegráfico, las grandes líneas de desarrollo de la física en esta centuria, ha sido la meta propuesta para esta obrita. El campo era tan vasto y el espacio disponible tan escaso, que ha sido preciso no tratar mucho temas, y reducir el campo de los aquí expuestos. Ello nos ha obligado en cierta medida a seguir el estilo hoy día tan en boga de los libros de divulgación científica. El lector juzgará si este modesto esfuerzo le proporciona o no una imagen suficiente de la vida de nuestra ciencia en el presente libro. |
