This study is a biography of the great Victorian writer Alfred Tennyson; founded on primary sources, many of them previously umpublished. The author combines enciclopaedic Tennyson scholarship with a great deal of intuitive common sense, sympathy and intimacy with his subject, a leisurely and domestic awareness of the subject.
