Resumen: In this work, the author seeks to reveal some of the inadequacies and incoherences of the industrial-bureaucratic state and to examine the part that education might play in the provition of a more humanly satisfying existence. He points out the inconsistency between the presure towards egalitarianism and the hierarchical demands of 'meritocracy'.
